Oklahoma State Senate Wants to Hear Internet Sales Tax Measures

After a long week of teacher strikes, the Oklahoma state Senate is to review a bill that would tax online vendors on Amazon that was passed earlier by the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Many Oklahomans were happy to see that the Senate went into session at 8:30 a.m. to review measures that would generate enough revenue for teacher raises. This bill would go into effect immediately and would generate about $45 million, possibly allowing for the $10,000 raise the teachers union asked for.

While the Oklahoma Senate is reviewing this bill, thousands of teachers and students take to the streets in and around the state capitol to express their frustration with the state’s legislature.
