Ilhan Omar expressed her feelings toward Fox News show host Tucker Carlson to reporters Wednesday, calling him a “racist fool” for his comments about America’s immigration system, using Omar as an example for why it is failing.
Omar took offense to Carlson’s on-air commentary Tuesday night that described the congresswoman as “living proof” that our current immigration system is “dangerous,” according to The Hill.
“After everything America has done for Omar and for her family, she hates this country more than ever,” he said.
“Omar isn’t disappointed in America, she is enraged by it. Virtually every public statement she makes accuses Americans of bigotry and racism,” Carlson added. “That should worry you and not just because Omar is now a sitting Member of Congress. Ilhan Omar is living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country.”
Omar responded to Carlson’s words Tuesday night on Twitter, saying Carlson’s “lies” will not “stamp out my love for this country.”
“Not gonna lie, it’s kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress,” Omar wrote. “No lies will stamp out my love for this country or my resolve to make our union more perfect.”
Tucker Carlson has been critical of congresswoman Omar and other immigrants who came to America via refugee programs before, and has received backlash for it in the past. Last November, the political group ANTIFA staged a late-night protest in front of Carlson’s house in Washington D.C., showing their disapproval of him and his daily appearance on television.
