Fired CNN Anchor Prepares to Sue CNN if Contract Not Paid in Full

‘No intention of paying Cuomo a penny’

Chris Cuomo, former CNN Anchor and brother to disgraced New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, is preparing to sue the network if it does not pay him the $18M left on his contract.

After leaving his SiriusXM Radio Show, Chris Cuomo has reportedly gathered lawyers and prepared a suit against CNN if they do not honor the remaining balance on his contract, which amounts to about $6M a year. This preparation is in the face of a planned internal investigation within CNN regarding sexual misconduct claims against Cuomo, which were made last week and date back to when he worked for ABC news, according to the New York Post.

A spokesman for Cuomo responded to CNN on Sunday, telling the Wall Street Journal that CNN President Jeff Zucker was aware of “the details of Mr. Cuomo’s support for his brother… there were no secrets about this, as other individuals besides Mr. Cuomo can attest.”

CNN responded by alleging Cuomo had breached his contract, saying that “this reinforces why he was terminated for violating our standards and practices, as well as his lack of candor.”

What can be expected in the future is a back-and-forth battle between Cuomo and CNN and a suit against the network, as CNN has already stated that they have “no intention of paying Cuomo a penny.”
